JUST For Heaven non-profit organisation will host a child protection campaign tomorrow (Friday) at Imbali Unit 18 Hall from 10 am to 2 pm.

This campaign is aimed at teaching children and parents about abuse and also give them information about the organisations that deal with child abuse and protection.

Phindile Shezi-Mohlala, who is the founder of Just For Heaven, said this is their first event on child protection but they are planning on doing it every year.

She said what encouraged her to do this campaign was the incidents of children abuse she witness every day in Imbali and most of the time children don’t know how to go about in reporting and dealing with these issues.

“Some children get abused to a point where they get depressed and need to see a psychologist. They need to pay the psychologist and they do not even have that money.

“Others are being abused everyday but they are not even aware that they are being abused,” she said.

Shezi-Mohlala said they are working closely with a doctor that will assist children that are being abused.

“We want to raise an awareness in our communities that they must not keep quiet if they are being abused or if they are witnessing abuse. As an organisation we want to establish a relationship with the community to fight the stigma of abuse in our communities.”
