Commemorating Mandela Day at the KZN National Botanical Garden

2018-07-04 06:00

AS we celebrate 100 years since Tata Nelson Mandela’s birth, The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) invites citizens of South Africa to visit the KZN National Botanical Garden (KZN-NBG) during the open day on Saturday, July 14, in celebration of Mandela Day.

The significance of this day is to offer garden visitors an opportunity to enjoy the richness of South African Biodiversity while contributing towards a worthy course.

Mandela Day calls on us all, every day, to make the world a better place. We look back on what has been done and forward to what will be done.

Making every day a Mandela Day celebrates Madiba’s life and legacy in a sustainable way that will bring about enduring change. Entrance into the garden will be free on this day, however, we request donation of sanitary pads or toiletries in lieu of entrance fees. By donating a pack of sanitary pads or toiletries, visitors will be contributing towards restoring the dignity of underprivileged school girls who miss, on average, seven days of schooling a month to avoid accidental embarrassment. Your contribution to this worthy course will contribute immensely in ensuring that we keep our girls at school. — Supplied
