THE Zondo family of four orphaned children live with their aunt in Mpumuza location because their parents died two years ago.

The youngest is a girl of three and the eldest is 15.

Besides bearing the loss of their parents, it’s the day to day living of poverty and distress they face, however, their lives changed when Comrades Marathon runner Mary Vorster took the children under her wing last year.

Vorster, a 52-year-old Australian Northern Suburbs Running Group athlete has run three Comrades, finishing two.

She donated R3 200 to the family in December, which were used to purchase groceries for the family.

She also went the extra mile and bought the children school uniforms.

The children could not stop smiling when they saw what the Australian Mother Christmas brought to their door.

The Community Chest would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her for making a special place in her heart for the Zondo family and thank her for making Christmas special for the Zondo children.
