THE Pietermaritzburg craft market that locals once frequented in Alexandra Park is back and ready to give consumers a fresh dose of shopping for crafty goods and delicious appetisers.

Driven by the man who ran the City Hall Market for four years, Nivesh Byroo is hoping to bring the vibrancy and fresh take on shopping back to the city, and in the process provide a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their work.

“We the people who are driving the flea market are hoping to bring a vibe to the people of Pietermaritzburg.

“We also know how hard it is for people to start their own businesses and want them to use this flea market to gain some ground,” said Byroo.

The flea market, which began on March 4, is operational every first and last Sunday of the month and is open for public participation at R70 per stall.

“We have people selling jerseys, pillows, chains, plants and basically anything involving crafts. We’ve had 25 stalls in operation since we opened and are hoping for more attendance from the general public,” said Byroo.
