Creating a platform to engage with others

2019-01-23 06:00

POET enthusiast and founder of the MLS Poetry Session and Kasi Vibe Poetry Sessions Ndumiso Zondi will be hosting a two-hour question and answer interactive session of group discussion on February 2 titled “The Age Gap: Through the Eye of the Needle”.

A lover of poetry and all things that come along with it, Zondi started engaging in poetry during his high school days at ML Sultan, using poetry to express his innermost thoughts and feelings.

“I found that I loved poetry reading and being in front of people,” said Zondi, who said he wants to host the interactive session so that people with questions can come together to share their questions and answers with one another.

Zondi said that, as an avid reader and someone who poses questions all the time, he felt as though he needed to create a platform for more people like him so that the different minds of Pietermaritzburg can come together to inform one another.

“This is a way for us to come together and realise that we are not alone in our thoughts. It is a way to communicate and learn about various ideologies which we as a people hold but also question,” said Zondi, adding that he hated blind faith and always wants to get to the bottom of things rather than just accept principals as a given.

Every month a new topic will be brought up in the sessions whereby people can bring up their innermost thoughts and questions that they have regarding the topic while also delving into other topics that can be discussed in the future.

“With poetry it is always just the poet sharing their views and not taking any feedback from the crowd. Through this initiative, we can give and take from one another,” Zondi said of the interactive session.

Zondi said that the question and answer session will be hosted at either the Msunduzi Municipal Library or at the DUT campus from 10 am to 12 pm.
