THE Varsity Cricket Club held its annual awards ahead of the upcoming season and to commemorate a successful cricketing season that passed last Saturday at Bangkok Wok in Invesco Centre.

KwaZulu-Natal Inland Amateur manager Jason Sathiaseelan attended the event while many of the first team players were not able to make it due to their off-season commitments.

To start things off, the highest honour of the night was given to Warren Naidoo who won overall player of the year.

All-rounder of the year was given to Mathew Luksich while MVP of the year was awarded to Josh Van Eden.

Mondli Khumalo won emerging player of the year with Kiyolan Moodley walking away with the most improved player of the year on the night.

Warren Naidoo scored the most runs in the premier league at 552 runs while Mathew Luksich took the most wickets with 57 wickets claimed.

A new executive committee was also selected as part of the formalities of the event for the upcoming 2018/2019 season where Sheru Chotu was named as the new Chairman while Sohail Gani was named as Vice-Chairman, Jason Chotu was named treasurer and Mathew Jeary the secretary.

Three Varsity Cricket Club players were selected for the Dolphins Academy with Mathew Luksich being selected for the one-day and three-day squads while Josh Van Eden and Masi Mthembu were selected for the one-day squads.

Athi Maposa was selected for the official Hollywood Bets Dolphins squad while Mondli Khumalo and Fraser Jones made the SA U19 squad.
