IN honour of the late Reilley King (founder of Lancashire Cricket Club) a Johannesburg cycling team, SC Mzansi, participated in the Amashova 2017 on October 22 and donated R16 000 to the club.

SC Mzansi Chairperson Bruce Manuel said they honoured King because one of their team members is related to King.

“We thought it fitting that we honour King at this year’s Amashova. King had a way of bringing people together. The club he helped form is doing amazing work in supporting youngsters in cricket,” said Manuel.

Shaun van der Byl, Lancashire Chairperson said they are extremely grateful to SC Mzansi and King’s family for the gesture.

“The money will go towards much-needed club renovations, especially in the change-room area.

“SC Mzansi has shown they are prepared to help other clubs and sporting codes throughout South Africa and are an example sporting clubs should follow.

“Their assistance is going to help many of the youngsters at the Lancashire CC.

“I thank Bruce Manuel and his team and wish them well in assisting sports clubs in South Africa, which Manuel is passionate about,” said Van der Byl.

Lancashire is a Woodlands cricket club that was established in 1995.
