Deejay academy open for registration

2017-03-15 06:03

BIG Fun Deejaying Academy is officially open for registration and it is giving away a free deejaying introductory course to 10 people.

Course facilitator Fano Gumede said they offer a six-week deejay course.

“The introductory course will give prospective students an idea on what we offer in terms of our full six-week deejay course.

The free course will work on a first come, first serve basis,” he said.

Gumede said the full course is divided into two sections.

“The theory aspect gives insight into the deejay industry.

We go over the history of deejaying, what is expected of deejays, the business aspect of it and how to handle yourself as a brand and marketing yourself.”

Gumede said the practical side of the course focuses on beat mixing, understanding of music, playing the different genres, perfect queuing, track selection and beat counting.

He said as an extra they also offer an events co-ordinating crash course.

The academy will also host events sessions to give house music enthusiasts a taste of old and new school house tunes.

“We encourage everyone to take up the course especially women deejays because we want to change the perception that this is a male dominated industry.”

The course is on Saturdays and Sundays.
