Drakensberg Boys Choir’s newest concert members

2019-06-26 06:02
Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School recently enrolled its first two members from the New Boys Choir, into the Concert Choir. They are Lutho Ngaleka (hailing from Durban) and Bjorn Kruger (from Winterton). Prior to this momentous occasion, the boys each sight read a piece in front of the whole choir, followed by signing their voice part in a choral piece, together with a quartet of experienced singers. This was preceded by 30 rigorous tests, covering topics such as how to use a tuning fork, proper posture and performance protocol. This year’s first to receive concert status beat last year’s first candidates by 11 days. Seen here after the Concert Status Ceremony are, back from left: Bjorn Kruger, Jesse Barth (mentor), Luke Torres (mentor) and Lutho Ngaleka. Front from left: Jennifer Matthews (new Boys conductor) and Junine Kruger (head of new boys).PHOTO: supplied
