POLICE are on the lookout for anyone who has information regarding a Royal Rice truck which was found last Thursday void of all diesel, missing stock and without a driver. Mountain Rise Police spokesperson Captain Gay Ebrahim confirmed that the horse and trailer truck left Johnstone Road, Durban in the early hours of Thursday morning with 32 tons of Royal Rice to the value of R400 000 but never made it to the destination. “The security at the company became suspicious when the driver failed to make it to his destination on time and activated the tracker, all the while making numerous amounts of calls to the driver but to no avail,” said Ebrahim. The director of the company along with security then made their way to Pietermaritzburg only to find their truck on Birmingham Road, Willowton. “The vehicle was parked on the road but the complete load was not on the truck. The driver was also missing while the keys were left in the vehicle,” said Ebrahim. Ebrahim confirmed that the driver’s door was damaged and the fuel tank emptied of all diesel. “The SAPS were summoned to the scene to investigate further and at this stage investigations are still currently ongoing,” said Ebrahim.
