Eat with four fingers

2017-03-15 06:02

A STUDENT from one of the universities visited a reputable institution during a trip to India. He was invited to a meal by the eminent principal. The student asked the respected principal: “Why do you not also eat with a fork and spoon?”

The principal immediately stretched out his hand, drawing attention to four of his fingers, and said: “I am eating with a fork. Just as a fork has got four prongs, my hands have got fingers.”

The principal continued: “My fork is better than your fork in many ways, my fork can feel the temperature of the food while your fork cannot. My fork can bend and catch hold of the food easily, while your fork cannot. I notice how you have difficulty getting hold of your food. If my fork hits against my teeth or gums I do not feel any real pain, while your fork causes great pain if it pierces you, as sometimes happens when eating with a fork. My fork excretes a fluid after eating, which helps with digestion, while your fork is unable to do so. My fork is made by the Almighty, while your fork is human made. If it is made of plastic, it is likely to break in its first use. I personally wash my fork before meals, while your fork is washed by somebody else, if it is washed. As such, eating with my fork draws a guaranteed reward while eating with your fork carries no reward.”

Reading about the benefits of eating with four fingers is food for thought. The crux of the whole thing is that we should use our four fingers when partaking of our meals, rather than use the human-made fork, which deprives you of many benefits.
