AN Edendale man was found dead in his car with a bullet wound to the back of his head in Copesville early on Tuesday morning.

Mountain Rise Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joshua Maistry said the man (35) was found in the Ezinketheni area in Copesville at around 7 am yesterday.

Maistry said he was found with a single bullet wound to the back of his head and it appeared that no other shots had been fired.

“At this stage it is unknown what the man was doing in this area as he lives in Edendale. There are no witnesses or any suspects at this stage,” he said.

It is believed the man, who was not formally identified by his family at the time of going to print, was using his private vehicle as a cab. However, this could not be confirmed.

Maistry said the shooting is believed to have happened between 6 am and 7 am on Tuesday.

Police have urged anyone with information on the matter to make contact with the head of detective services, Colonel Sibongiseni Phoswa, at 079 500 0264.
