Enter ‘Baking Fever with Friends’, and WIN

2017-01-11 06:01

FOODPAK and Maritzburg Fever invite bakers to participate in their monthly Facebook Baking Competition.

The aim of the competition, which will run throughout the year on Foodpak’s Facebook page, is to inspire baking.

“We are calling on all bakers, young and old – professional and amateur, moms, children, grannies and school boys and girls to enter this fun competition where the most popular entry i.e. the one with the most Facebook Likes wins the monthly Foodpak Hamper,” said Ryan Zammit manager of Foodpak.

Details of the competition can be found on Foodpak’s Facebook page, but essentially entrants will be required to bake and photograph their creation with a copy of Maritzburg Fever and to post it on Foodpak’s Facebook page. They will then need to tag and encourage all their Facebook friends to “like” their post on Foodpak’s actual page. Entries must be baked, be sweet or savoury, simple or imaginative – biscuits, cakes puddings or other baked goodies.

The monthly winner will receive a R500 Foodpak hamper, sponsored by Hulamin Containers and Rolkem, who are delighted to support a competition which encourages baking.

Hulamin Containers is well known for its foil baking containers that are ideal for both the oven and microwave and make the storage and presentation of food more effective.

Rolkem, which specialises in baking and decorating products such as colour, glitter and gels, are delighted to support a competition which encourages baking and new trends and styles in the industry.

The monthly winner will also be featured in a photograph published in Maritzburg Fever.

“This competition is open to all locals on Facebook and the fact that it can only be won by ‘popular vote’ means that the playing field is levelled and home bakers (even children) can compete against professional decorators. You simply have to get the most ‘friend likes’ to win,” said Zammit.

“Having said that Foodpak would like to encourage professional bakers as well as up-and coming cake decorators to also enter the competition and to use the opportunity to promote their talent.”

The competition runs from January to December and so bakers have a whole year to catch and try and win “Foodpak and Friends Baking Fever”. There will also be lucky draws and extra special hampers in the months celebrating Easter, Eid al-Fitr, Diwali and Christmas.
