Face of KZN 2018 winners crowned

THE Face of KZN 2018 Model Search contest winners were crowned at an event held at the Winston Churchill Theatre in Scottsville on Saturday. The winners were Smiso Mlangeni, a 21-year-old Unisa student from Imbali, and Amile Khumalo, a 19-year-old broadcasting graduate from Umlazi.

Innora, a gospel artist from Zimbabwe; Angel Mazibuko, a guitarist from UKZN PMB campus; Kheveneza comedian Xola; Ian Mpanza, a poet from UKZN PMB campus; Red Army Dancers and Mafeja kept the audience entertained.

The finalists were selected from hundreds of entrants from all over KwaZulu-Natal, who strutted their stuff in three categories, which were casual wear, swimwear and formal wear.

The finalists shared prize vouchers worth R50 000, sponsored by Bengs Nkosi, 033 Lifestyle, Virgin Active, Cine Centre, 39 Degrees Photography, Durban Skydive Centre, Ice Bizzer and Irene’s Models Agency.

Austin Rethabile Mothapo, known as Noah in the TV soapie Skeem Saam; Siphesihle Vazi from Selimathunzi; Sibonelo Zungu, a 2016 Mr South Africa finalist; Carla van Rensburg, the Face of KZN 2016 female winner; Nelisiwe Zuma, a road accident survivor, and psychiatrist Dr Dan Moodley, were VIP guests.

The top three contestants will now work within their community to promote youth development through motivational talks and skills training for a period of 12 months. They will also attend social events to promote the Face of KZN Model Search brand.
