SIZITHOBILE Educare NPO will have a fun run-walk and other games for the family on 19 March at Esiqongweni High School in Imbali Unit 13 to raise funds for maths lessons for pupils in disadvantaged areas.

The race will start at 7am from Esiqongweni High and finish at Spikon Stadium where there will be loads of games for everyone.

Sizithobile will be campaigning throughout the Greater Edendale and Pietermaritzburg during March, which will continue throughout the year.

The organisation realised there is a tremendous need, especially for high-risk youths in low-income neighbourhoods and disadvantaged high schools for programmes that provide academic support activities and support for pupils during, after, and in school holidays throughout the year. Supporting and making a donation in kind will help Sizithobile get closer to starting this programme.

Sizithobile Educare will have a positive impact on the young lives of high school pupils in Pietermaritzburg and KZN.

It offers a unique opportunity for disadvantaged and underserved pupils and helps them with mathematics and science.

The organisation is giving businesses, government departments, families and friends the opportunity of helping them turn their dreams to reality by becoming a team, partner or organisation sponsor by joining the fun run- walk.

Runners will receive free special T-shirts they can proudly wear on the day knowing they have taken the first step and contributed positively in the education of the high- school pupils.

Bring 10 of your friends to the event for a worthy cause.

We are calling for sponsors from government departments and the private sector to team up with us and make a meaningful contribution.

First positions in 10km and 5km will each get R2 000 and R1 000 respectively, runner-up in 10km and 5km will each get R1 000 and R500 respectively, and third position in 10km and 5km will each win R500 and R300 respectively.

Each prize comes with a free T-shirt, trophy and medal. The U17 category will be judged on their own and winners will also receive prizes.

There will be other games for gogos, relay and athletics races. Police and paramedics will be there so parents need not to worry about the safety of their children.
