WHETHER you’re the silver bullet of your running club or a Sunday morning stroller, that power couple that trains together or weekend warrior on a mountain bike, you can join KwaZulu-Natal’s biggest outdoor participative event in May.

The Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk on May 20 has a race pace and distance for everyone. All you have to do is #FindYourPace.

There are three walking routes to choose from: five kilometre, 10 km and 20 km. There is also a new nine-kilometre fun run. Participants in all events will make their way along the promenade, from uShaka Marine World to Moses Mabhida People’s Park.

In another first this year, some of East Coast Radio’s presenters will also walk and run, including the ECR Breakfast team, Jane Linley-Thomas, Thandolwethu, the Drive team and Damon Beard.

East Coast Radio general manager Boni Mchunu said: “We’re so proud that the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk has grown to become a highlight on the province’s events calendar. In an exciting addition this year we have included a charity element. A portion of every entry fee received will go towards Saint Giles, a non profit organisation in Durban for the disabled.”

Discovery’s head of experiential marketing and sponsorships, Iona Maclean, said the event continues to bring Durban families from various backgrounds together each year to walk side-by-side along the promenade.

“Physical activity is important in leading a healthy lifestyle and we are proud that we have been getting Durban families walking for 10 years,” Maclean said.

Participants are encouraged to take picnic baskets to enjoy great entertainment at the finish.

Entries are open and if you enter by April 15, ticket prices are discounted, and you stand the chance of winning a weekend away at Champagne Sports Resort valued at R12 000. Go to www.durbanbigwalk.co.za to #FindYourPace and register today.
