FRESH Food Market turns one this month after undergoing a massive revamp and adding a few extras to cater for all customer needs.

In December 2015, owner and store manager, Joshua De Gouveia, opened Fresh Food Market in Victoria Square after seeing a need to cater to the public supplying them with fresh fruit and vegetables.

With the help of some people De Gouveia’s ideas and dreams turned to reality on 16 December, 2015 with a soft opening, and while it was quiet in the beginning, the store traffic picked up considerably as the months went by.

Since then, Fresh Food Market has blossomed, focusing on supplying its customers with quality and value, but most of all, great service.

“We focus on customer care and service. We have very friendly and helpful staff giving our customers our undivided attention. We have, over the last year, built special relationships with our customers, especially the regulars,” said De Gouveia.

In June, Paul Bessa joined the Fresh Food Market team and assisted with expanding their services. He was appointed butchery manager and he is the ideal person to speak to with regards to getting the best cuts of meat. The biltong bar was also upgraded and now offers a wider variety of biltong to choose from.

Later that month, a hot-food trailer was opened outside the store entrance, catering for those in need of a quick meal during their day. Meals on offer include, wors, viennas, cheese Russians, steak rolls and fresh chips.

“We felt this was needed in order to create a fresh, modern shopping experience for our customers, ensuring their experience at the store is pleasant,” said De Gouveia.

Fresh Food Market now caters for restaurants, coffee shops and other hospitality industries and supplies fruit, vegetables, bakery and butchery items and perishable and non-perishable groceries.

The bakery carries a variety of confectionary and breads for any and all occasions, with baked goods made fresh daily.

As an added service to customers, Fresh Food Market makes use of social media, particularly Facebook, where weekly specials are posted on their Facebook page, PMB Fresh Food Market.

They also encourage shoppers to give their details in-store so they can be sent a text message highlighting specials for their convenience.

“We do whatever we can to make sure our customers are taken care of in-store. We plan to expand the business not only in the city, but across the province,” said De Gouveia.

Fresh Food Market is open 7 days a week.

Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm

Saturday, 7am to 5pm

holidays, 7am to 4pm
