THE first ever Pietermaritzburg Food Festival was held at Golden Horse Casino last Sunday. People came out in numbers to celebrate their diversity through food, fashion and culture. The event was organised by Chilla Nathi Concept in partnership with One Nation, which is the mother body of Broadway Lifestyle. Organisers said they plan on growing this event and in the upcoming years and intend to make it an annual one.Namile Nzimande who attended the event told Echo that she was so excited about it and it is something that Pietermaritzburg needs. “We need events like this where you can just go and relax with your friends and family. “[What is] good about it as well is that it is on a Sunday, which makes it more convenient for everyone because you can attend the event after church,” she said. Nolwazi Ngcemu said: “Everything was perfect. I wish that it can happen more often not only once a year. It brought us together. I even met people that I last saw a long time ago. It was exciting. Well done organisers, they must keep it up.”Director of Operations and Complex General Manager at the Golden Horse Casino Maureen Kivits said: “We would like to thank everybody who made this festival a success. “Our attendees got the chance to sample some of the most delicious offerings and also spend some quality time with family and friends.” Patrons enjoyed the food stalls, arts and crafts and entertainment.
