Follow the guidelines while observing faith

2020-03-25 06:05

COVID-19 has encompassed the world and the precautionary and preventative measures adopted by the government have necessitated that the manner in which citizens fulfil their religious obligations supports the international and local “urgent and aggressive action” being taken to suppress, control and contain the spread of the virus.

To this end, I would like to call upon and appeal to my fellow brothers and sisters in faith to carry out the directives issued by the government and their respective places of worship, organisations or the Masjids.

As South Africans, and as part of the human race, we all have a communal responsibility to ensure the safety and preservation of lives.

Together with turning to the almighty in prayers and in the best interest of this country, the cautionary and safety measures announced by the Musjids and religious bodies must be followed strictly.

The need to adopt the precautionary measures, albeit temporary, is motivated by the urgency needed to mitigate the impact and spread of the coronavirus.
