WITH only a couple of days left before the finals of the Face of KZN Model Search Contest in the city on 3 September, Zandile Thusi, the 2013 winner, has tips for this year’s hopefuls.

The 21-year-old from Smero in Edendale said entering the competition was one of the best decisions she made for her growing modelling career.

“Winning the competition had a really huge impact on me and opened many new doors for me. It also boosted my self-confidence. I think I can now compete in any beauty pageant in the country.”

Zandile advised finalists to have fun.

“Yes, it is a competition, but I think the important thing is to have fun, be yourself and learn from the adventure. There is a lot more to take away from the competition than the main prize.”

The Face of KZN Model Search Contest was founded in January 2010 by former model Bengs Nkosi and has introduced contestants to the exciting world of modelling.

Adhering to international modelling standards for Miss South Africa and Miss World, contestants are between the ages of 15 and 35, must not be engaged, married or pregnant.

They must currently be at school, university or college and be willing to do voluntary work with a non-profit organisation of their choice that promotes youth development.

Nkosi said the 4th Face of KZN Model Search Contest finalists will be judged in four categories - casual wear, swimwear, underwear and formal evening wear.

“Our celebrity judges, with vast experience, will facilitate the judging and registered auditors will ensure free and fair judgment and the public will have a chance to vote for their favourite contestant. The event will be professionally filmed and broadcast later on national television,” said Nkosi.

The winners will walk away with prizes worth R57 500, sponsored by Mr Bengs Nkosi, Virgin Active, Nathi B Potrait Studio, Cine Centre, Greater Edendale Mall, 39 Degrees Photography, 033 Lifestyle and Mo’Bella Beauty Salon.

Celebrities who have been invited include Lesley Musina, Mrs South Africa finalists Maritsa Gouws and Bright Ntuli-Kunene, Mr South Africa finalists Sakhile Hlengwa and Sibonelo Zungu, Zanele Mbokazi and the Uzalo cast.

Doors at city hall open at 10am and tickets available at Computicket for R100 general and R250 VIP.

Tickets also available by calling 086 191 5800 or online at - Supplied.
