ER24 paramedics treated four people after two separate collisions on the N3 Peter Brown Drive on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.

After arriving at the scene with other services, paramedics found that a man was trapped inside his vehicle after he had lost control of his truck and landed at the bottom of a long embankment.

While paramedics assessed the man, provincial rescue services successfully freed him from the vehicle using various rescue tools at their disposal.

While attending to the man’s injuries, a secondary collision occurred involving two light motor vehicles.

Three patients were then assessed after the accident and were found to have sustained only minor injuries. After treating all four patients, paramedics transported them to various hospitals for further treatment. Local authorities assessed the scene to conduct further investigations on the cause of both collisions.
