BORN and bred in KwaMpumuza, young model and upcoming actress Slindile Ntethe is one of the cast members of the new drama series, Diamond City, which airs on SABC 1 every Sunday at 8pm.

The show made its debut on air on Sunday, October 14 and runs until January 6, 2019.

Ntethe, who is also former Miss Curvaceous South Africa 2016, plays the role of Ivy — a gossiping receptionist.

Speaking to Echo, Ntethe said this role could not have come at a better time as it will boost her acting profile.

“This is an upgrade for me in my acting career and is much bigger compared to the one I once played on Isibaya, when I was a doctor who appeared once in a while.

“I am so excited about this show, I just wish to encourage people to please watch it because I can promise them they are going to enjoy it and they do not want to miss the drama that will be happening,” she said.

The role came after Ntethe’s casting agency, based in Johannesburg, told her that the directors of this show were doing auditions and they were looking for a person to play the role of a receptionist.

“The directors called me and said, because I am not in Johannesburg, I can do the auditions over the phone. They sent me a short script and said I must do a short scene and send it to them on Whatsapp. They gave me only one hour to do the clip and send it back to them. After two hours, I was called and told that I got the role and I must come up to Johannesburg the next day.

“I was so excited I could not belive it. I am so grateful for the chance.

“I hope that people will love the show and watch it so that we can come back with season two,” Ntethe said.
