THE future is looking bright for young model Amahle Sithole who was recently named one of the semi-finalists in a national pageant called Miss Teen United Nations South Africa 2019, which will be held in Johannesburg from March 15 to 17.

Amahle (17) from Lincoln Meade said it has always been her dream to be in a national competition and make her city proud.

Speaking to Echo, she said that at first she was reluctant to enter the competition until her friend changed her mind.

“I saw a poster of this competition on Facebook and I ignored it because I was not sure whether to enter or not. After I ignored it, one of my friends sent it to me and begged me to enter the competition and I did, not knowing I would be chosen as one of the semi-finalist.

“I am very excited and nervous at the same time because I know it is not going to be easy but I am hoping that I will make it through to the finals.

“I believe that I will learn a lot in this competition, especially as I have only been in the modelling industry for seven months. It will give my modelling career a big boost and I will get more exposure,” she said.

Amahle said she is going to do everything in her power to get through to the finals, but she will also need help from Pietermaritzburg citizens.

“One of the requirements is that I get up to R3 000 in donations and sponsorships. It could be anything from travelling expenses to anything.

“I am also expected to do some charity work.

“I am appealing to the people to please assist me because I am not only representing KwaZulu-Natal but I am representing Pietermaritzburg as well. If I make it throught in this competition I will be travelling to India to represent my country.”

Besides being a semi-finalist in this competition, Amahle is holder of the titles of Miss KZN Capital City 2018, Miss KZN Heroine 2018, Miss Umgungundlovu 2018 and Miss Golide Igama 2018. If you would like to assist Amahle, you can send an e-mail to or phone 073 425 6262.
