NON-PROFIT organisation God Created Families before Church will host a healthy awareness programme that is aimed at educating people on how to live a healthy lifestyle. The programme will be held on October 26 at the Old Oribi Hall on Juno Street opposite Acacia Park. The programme will start with a 5 km fun walk that will commence at 9 am.Nonhlanhla Hlongwa, from the NPO, said the programme will focus on education on diabetes, hypertension and cancer.“Our main focus of education will be on diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. “When we were conducting a survey throughout the year where we found out that many people are struggling with these health issues. It’s either an individual or someone in the family who is affected by one of these ailments.“The mobile clinic will be on site for those who want to do check-ups.We encourage people to please come in numbers so that they can be educated and also get a chance to do tests,” she said.The entrance to the fun walk is free.Apart from this programme the NPO is also running a sanitary pad drive where they collect sanitary pads for women in need. Hlongwa said they started this drive last year and have so far collected about 310 sanitary pads.
