PIETERMARITZBURG Girls’ High School recently held its senior speech day for the Class of 2017. This was the last official day at school for the pupils. Stephanie Saville, deputy editor of The Witness, was the guest of honour. Hannah Parak was announced the GHS Dux of 2017. Hannah has maintained an outstanding academic record and has been placed first in her grades since Grade 1. She holds academic colours and honours, awarded various subject prizes and has been awarded the UKZN prize for mathematics and science. Making history are the Janine and Janice Boodoo, who came second and third respectively. Janine, dux runner-up has also maintained second position in her grades since Grade 10. She has been awarded academic colours and honours and has gained subject prizes in mathematics and accounting. Her twin, Janice came third in Grade 12 and has maintained this position since Grade 10. She was awarded subjects prizes in mathematics, physical science and life orientation.
