A SUNDAY afternoon drive down Cedar Road resulted in a campaign to supply the Isabel Beardmore Old Age Home with a working generator after Woodlands resident Brenda Jordan saw that they were without lights.

“The other Sunday when the lights went of from 2pm to 9pm my husband and I drove past there and saw that those poor elderly people had been without lights for such a long time and we then decided that we had to do something about it,” said Jordan.

So far in her fundraising efforts, Jordan has created a Facebook group to raise funds and created a bank account for donations.

“I started this initiative and, so far, people have been responding but I believe that via the paper we can get even more sponsors and coverage,” said a hopeful Jordan.

Aiming for an amount of R28 000, after they were pointed in the direction of a generator that would cost that much, Jordan has named the Facebook group, “Generator Funds for Isabel Beardmore”.

“On the page we will post all bank deposits made in order to facilitate transparency and we have since enlisted the help of various locals,” said Jordan.

Those wishing to donate to this cause can do so by depositing money into the account created for the campaign:

Account Name: Generator Funds

Bank: First National Bank

Account number: 62783009634

Branch code: 250655
