good change

CHANGE is good, especially a change for the better. The article in The Witness on February 18, titled “Fuel station proceeds”, is the type of news we need.

There are no fewer than six petrol stations within a kilometre of each other, with four on Dr Chota Motala Road alone, in the Raisethorpe CBD. The Raisethorpe CBD is a combination of residential and commercial properties, as is College Road. So any argument against the need for a filling station seems indefensible when compared to the Raisethorpe CBD. Furthermore, concern of safety regarding the new development is a moot point when drawing a comparison regarding the population density of these two areas. The economic injection and jobs that this development will present are welcomed. Traffic problems should not impact on development and town planning needs to ensure infrastructure expansion grows at a rate that matches development. Proper planning for the future is critical as we need to attract investors to the city.
