Gospel artist to host album launch

2018-07-25 06:00

LOCAL gospel artist Ayanda Ntanzi (25) will launch his second album at the Winston Churchill Theatre, Scottsville, from 3 pm on July 21. The album is titled Priestly Worship.

Ntanzi, who is studying LLB law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus, started singing in 2005 in his family gospel group called Isabelo Gospel Rhythm.

He told Echo that he decided to go solo in 2011 and recorded his first album in 2015, titled Udumo. The album has 16 tracks.

“I first released this album online in December last year and now I want to launch the hard copy of it. I am very excited about this launch but I am also nervous at the same time because I don’t know how people are going to receive it.

“The online release is doing very well so far and I hope this one is going to do well too,” he said.

He said this album launch is not only for gospel music lovers but it is also a family event. Ntanzi wants to use the event to try to restore the dignity of gospel shows in Pietermaritzburg by giving the people the best show.

“I want my music to reach everyone and touch everyone’s soul to change for the better. I am not singing gospel because I have the voice but because it’s something that comes from deep inside me — I want to use it to help other people see life in a positive way.”

He also revealed that there will be transport available for all the people who have bought tickets. The transport will be available at the tourism hub from 1 pm and people will have to have their ticket in order for them to get into the taxis. Ntanzi said he is doing this because he does not want people to worry about transport.

Tickets are available at Computicket with general at R 100, golden-circle at R 180 and VIP at R 250.
