LUNGELO Gidigidi, who was born and bred in Sobantu, has officially released her debut single, called Hamba Nojesu.

Gidigidi says it has always been her dream to release her own gospel song one day.

Speaking to Echo, she said having parents who were so involved in music inspired her to get into music as well.

She said she started singing at an early age but at that time she only sang Afro-pop music and gospel.

“My mother used to play piano and my late dad used to play a guitar.

“I believe that I inherited my singing talent from them because they were also good when it came to vocals.

“I then started singing in church groups and in schools.

“A while later, I entered the singing competition called Shell Road to Fame and I became a first runner-up — that is how my music journey started. Because I was a grown up that time, I started singing in different events, such as church events and weddings,” she said.

In talking about her music, Gidigidi said she is very excited that she is has come this far and that she is also busy working on a single that she is going to release in December.

“I am also working on an album called Worship is my prayer that I will release in June next year.

“I decided to name this album this way because I am the women of God and ‘worship’ is the response to revelation and ‘prayer’ is communication with God. On this album I want to have a lot of songs that communicate with God and also worship songs.

“My wish or my plan is to release at least one album each year.

“I know that will require a lot of work but I am prepared to work hard so that I can make it happen.

“I would also like to do a collaboration with a gospel artist Ntokozo Mbambo because she inspires me a lot with her music,” Gidigidi said.
