HAVE you been knitting up a storm and now have a pile of snuggly socks or jerseys or doggy coats you want to sell?

Have you had a clean out and don’t know what to do with the quality but unwanted ornaments and books you found? Well, for just R 300, you could get a stall at the mid-winter’s most-fun-festival — the Hills 1 000 Paws Walk, being held on Sunday, July 15, at Hilton College.

You can sell all you have to sell, and you’ll also have a lot of fun, and be making a difference to animals in need across the Midlands.

This annual SPCA fundraising event sees hundreds of dogs and their owners sharing either the 2 km or 4 km walks around Hilton College.

It’s not a race, rather a relaxed amble through the lovely college grounds with stunning views of the Midlands and Albert Falls Dam. There are also numerous activities, delicious food and plenty of entertainment for everyone, including non-walkers, to enjoy.

All funds raised through this event, related raffles, and individual walker sponsorship are to be divided between the three Midlands SPCA branches of Umngeni-Howick, Mooi River and District and Pietermaritzburg, benefitting all of the needy and neglected animals of the region.

This is the 10th year of the 1 000 Paws so come along and celebrate.

If you fancy a few days on the high seas, revelling in luxury (rather than sleeping in a hammock and having to do deckhand duties), get a 1 000 Paws Walk raffle ticket, now on sale at retailers across Mooi River, Howick and Pietermaritzburg.

At only R 10 a ticket, you might be in line to win one of the impressive, top-quality prizes on offer.

1ST PRIZE — a fabulous three-night cruise for two adults to Portuguese Island, Mozambique, aboard the MSC Musica, including all meals, entertainment and service charges, valued at over R 15 000.

2ND PRIZE — head for the gorgeous hills with this two-night, midweek stay for two adults, including dinner, bed and breakfast at the magnificent four-star Cathedral Peak Hotel, valued at over R 6 600.

3RD PRIZE — a gourmet one night getaway for two adults at the legendary five-star foodie retreat Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse in the foothills of the Kamberg, valued over R 5 000.

Raffle tickets will also be on sale at the event.
