A GROUP of Grade 8 and 9 pupils from Grace College recently went to the Pietermaritzburg Children’s Home in Woodlands with Mrs Brown.

This home is an amalgamation of the Hilltops Children’s Home, the Mary Cook Home and the Mildred Ward Project. It provides residential care to over 80 orphaned or vulnerable children who have been placed in its care by the Children’s Court.

The children were away at school when Grace College went to play their part in community service.

They helped the Home with office administration.

Donations of stationery for the children were made and stored in an outside container. Students spent the morning sorting and ordering the stationery in containers, a job that the Home’s staff battle to get around to do.

The morning gave us all an appreciation of how enormously privileged we are to have homes and family that care for us.
