THE weather was cold and the surface slippery, but that did not stop St Charles College and Clifton College from playing enterprising rugby for the crowd on Old Orchards recently.
Clifton College travelled to play against St Charles College.

The Saints played with the wind at their back in the first half and went into the half time break with a lead, 15 points to seven.

The Saints started the second half well, keeping ball in hand and scoring two tries to open up a commanding lead, 25-7. A mistake on attack by the Saints boys lead to a run through try for Clifton, duly converted to bring the score to 25-14. Saints then showed their interplay, backing themselves from deep in their own half, to go the length of the field to score a fantastic try, the scoreboard reading 30-14 with 15 minutes to play.

Once again on the attack, with holes showing in the Clifton defence, the Saints boys made a mistake and lead to another turnover and run through try, 30-21.

This got the tails of the visitors up and for the last ten minutes the Saints were pinned in their own 22 and forced to defend. Clifton threw everything at the home team but the defense stood tall and eventually the final whistle blew with the score 30-21 to St Charles College.
