THE uMgungundlovu Health District awarded its staff and institutions that excelled in the execution of duties.

The awards were held on Friday, November 24, at the Golden Horse Casino and recognised health facilities, teams and individuals who performed well over the 2016/2017 financial year.

uMgungundlovu Health District Senior communications practitioner Thobile Hadebe said: “The awards were hosted in November, which is a month to celebrate quality and quality service, was awarded and encouraged.

“All health facilities, hospitals, community health-care centres and clinics were assessed using different health performance data and monitoring tools.

“Their performance was measured against targets and it was discovered there are facilities that have worked hard to provide quality health-care service.”

She said besides the facilities, staff, who have served the department successively for 20, 30, 30 to 40 and 40 years were awarded long-service certificates.

“There were facilities and teams who received awards for going beyond the call of duty and for being innovative when conducting services,” she said.

Mfowethu Zungu, deputy director general for National Health Insurance in KZN Health, was guest speaker.

He said most of the time officials in the department work under immense pressure and don’t take time to reflect on the good they have been doing, which is why such a ceremony is important. - Supplied.s
