Here I am, send me too

2018-03-07 06:02

I WANT to be there when the spirit of the Freedom Charter, which is the foundation of the democratic principles of South Africa and a beacon to its people, is realised.

When all national groups have equal rights, when everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law, and equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all rights and freedoms.

I want to be there when the people share in the country’s wealth. When mines are no longer the killing holes of our fathers and mothers. I want to be there when the land is shared among those who work it. It is not correct that people who “break their backs” working on farms producing food for the nation have nothing. I want to be there for the landless, the poor and the oppressed.

A new day is dawning over the government’s efforts to speed up the land redistribution process which is at the heart of solving South Africa’s triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality.

Land continues to be of growing importance in today’s age of technology and development, and the essence of land is etched deep within the history of South Africa. Land is a finite resource. It sustains our country through the process of food production; it determines our sovereignty as a nation; it is the foundation of our diverse culture, and is at the heart of our being.

The land which we farm on, conduct business on and build on has immense and remarkable value in terms of the socioeconomic development of our country.

Our land is the basis for the prosperity of South Africa and her people. South Africa will only prosper if all human and economic needs are met. Therefore, as one of the lovers of this country, I am saying, here am I, send me too.
