HERMANNSBURG Primary School pupils recently visited uShaka Marine World for a day of learning and experiencing the wonder of nature in a marine setting.

They then went on to the Bird of Prey Sanctuary outside Pietermaritzburg and a game farm nearby.

The close proximity of the birds and the African veld once again wowed pupils and brought a fresh appreciation of SA’s natural heritage.

The school thanked the hosts at the venues, and KwaSizabantu, who hosted pupils for the last day of their excursions, showing them around the various industries at the mission station.

They were taken on a tour of the auditorium (which seats 10 000 people), the aQuellé factory (learning that “aqua” means water and Quelle is German for source), the hothouses where they grow peppers for companies like Woolworths, Spar and more, as well as visiting the broadcasting rooms of Radio Khwezi among others.
