THE ‘Samba Boyz’ (Hotspurs) went up against Young Natalians at the YMCA indoor sports centre and demolished them 5-3.

Young Natalians, who had just beaten eThekwini City in the previous fixture, were confident as they had defeated eThekwini, who had not been defeated in their previous 13 games.

They expected to easily turn over the mighty Hotspurs, who then tamed the overconfident Natalians as Hotspurs dominated in every department, ensuring they bagged the three points on the day.

Natalians started the night with the first goal, and soon after Hotspurs equalised. Hotspurs then scored another goal and went into half time leading 2-1.

In the second half, Natalians just could not penetrate the Hotspurs formation as they stood strong and left Natalians looking for shade as they scored another two goals leading 4-1.

Natalians managed to then sneak one in and Hotspurs again put another one in then leading 5-2.

Natalians desperately tried and managed to score one last goal but could just not match and keep up with the fit and well shaped squad and game play of Hotspurs who dictated the game and dominated through out the evening eventually sealing the victory 5-3.

Mabhuti Khanyeza, who made his debut for Hotspurs against his former Natalians team, punished the Natalians by scoring two crucial goals thus showing his class and quality throughout the evening.

Curtis Dos Santos was in sublime form with his tantalising movements and tricky suggestions entertaining the crowd and netting two goals as well ensuring his team’s victory.

Hotspurs vice-captain, Enva Wiltwer, who steered the team with his ability to keep Natalians in their half and right where he wanted them, also scored a goal bringing Hotspurs tally to five against Young Natalians.

Hotspurs manager Bilal Ebrahim said: “Hard work, commitment and dedication from players and management pays off when you act as a unit and also while being humble, do what you need to do.

“My guys are in excellent shape, hungry to win, in firing form and definitely a danger to any team in the league.

“Business as usual, keep your eyes and your mind on the prize.

“There is no team that is the best or undefeatable, but from where I am standing Hotspurs tamed and humbled Natalians as we tore them apart and showed that when we come for you there is nowhere to hide.

“As Hotspurs, this season we are hungry for victory and we are coming with everything.

“We are not a walk in the park and rest assured, come with your best and a game plan or else we are going to punish your mistakes.

“I want to thank the communities for coming out in such tremendous numbers and for the exceptional support for the local derby, our local talent from our very own communities playing at the highest level of Futsal in the country. and for your love, faith and loyalty for Maritzburg Hotspurs.”
