UBUNTU Nest painted Thandazile Nzuza’s home on Saturday, October 21, for its “Spread Ubuntu Paint Initiative”.

Thandazile, an 88-year-old Imbali Unit BB resident, was identified as the beneficiary by an Ubuntu Nest cast member who lives in Imbali.

Makhubalo Ikaneng, architect of the Ubuntu Nest - The Musical stage production, said cast, crew, neighbours and community members painted her home.

“Even people who were passing by would help. We had planned to only paint the outside of her house, but we ended up painting the inside as well,” Ikaneng said.

He said the woman described the house being painted as “an early Christmas present”.

“As Ubuntu, we are grateful for the love that was shown to gogo Nzuza, and appreciate the support the Pietermaritzburg community has for our initiative,” Ikaneng said.

He also thanked Natal Associated Chemicals for donating paint and chemicals for the job.

The musical will performed at the Golden Horse Casino on Sunday, October 29. The next performance will be at Isibaya in Durban before heading to Johannesburg.

“In every city we will travel to our Spread Ubuntu Paint Initiative will identify a beneficiary and spread ubuntu through a charitable act of paint,” Ikaneng said.
