Housing issue meeting invitation

2016-07-13 06:00

HOMEOWNERS in Pietermaritzburg, and in particular in Scottsville and Pelham, are invited by the Msunduzi Municipality to attend a meeting on Saturday, 16 July, at the Winston Churchill Hall, Leinster Road, from 2pm to 5pm.

The intention of the meeting is to elicit homeowners’ input into the boarding house and student accommodation as well as the bed and breakfast policy review process being conducted by the municipality with the support of a service provider.

A second, a student and residents in boarding houses meeting will be held on 30 July, at the Winston Churchill Hall, Leinster Road, from 2pm to 4pm. The intention of the second meeting is to record input from students, their representatives and residents of boarding houses and students accommodation with regard to the policy review process.

Homeowners, residents, and students have various concerns about the accommodation shortage in Pietermaritzburg and the process through which the municipality should regulate boarding houses and student accommodation. The bed and breakfast policy is being reviewed.

Home owners are requested to confirm their intention to attend the meeting by 15 July. Students, their representatives and residents are requested to confirm their intention to attend the meeting by 29 July.
