“I am one step closer to reaching my dream.”

These were the words of Amahle Sithole from Lincoln Meade after she was announced as the first finalist for Miss United Nations South Africa.

The pageant will be held in Johannesburg from August 30 to September 1.

Amahle (17), who was selected as a finalist at the beginning of March, says this is the first national competition that she has entered since she started modelling in 2018.

“I am excited and nervous at the same time because it is my first time taking part in something this big but I will give it my best shot,” she said, adding that she wants to use the platform to learn more about the modelling industry.

“For me it is not only about getting the crown and the money — I want to use this platform to improve myself and learn different things from other contestants who are more experienced than me.

“I believe that I am ready for this competition because I want to make everyone who has been supporting me proud and, most importantly. I want to put my city on the map.

“Winning this competition means that I get a chance to help in making South Africa a better place. I want young people to follow in the footsteps of modelling because I believe that it can take you far and it will teach you mannerisms and etiquette as a young person,” she said.

Amahle said it took more than beauty to be in the competition and finalists are expected to get involved in community work as well.

“I am looking forward to it.”

Besides being a finalist in this competition, Amahle is holder of the titles of Miss KZN Capital City 2018, Miss KZN Heroine 2018, Miss Umgungundlovu 2018 and Miss Golide Igama 2018.
