BORN and bred in Imbali Unit 3, Lungelo Sithole is to be one of the new presenters on Gagasi FM.

Sithole will present the night show every Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 4 am starting June 2, together with Raphael Griffiths who is known for his acting role as “Vusi”, Thandaza’s son, in Muvhango.

Sithole said he was shocked and excited at the same time when he received the good news that him and Griffiths were selected.

Speaking to Echo, he said he is looking forward to the new challenge.

“It has been my dream to be a radio presenter since I was young because I love entertainment. This did not come easy. I have been trying to get opportunities like this but I guess God has his own timing.

“After I left Selimathunzi in 2011 as a guest presenter, I decided to join uMgungundlovu Community Radio Station where I did a slot of celebrity gossip. In 2013, Raphael and I decided to do something so that we could be on the radio.

“We then started doing demos that we submitted to different places, including Gagasi FM.

“This opportunity means a lot to me. It’s like a dream come true, especially because I come from an entertainment background.

“My late uncle was the first one to be on radio in my family through his music and I am the second one and I am honoured. He was my mentor and I followed in his foot steps because he also loved entertainment,” he said.

Sithole, who works at the Msunduzi Youth Centre, also encouraged young people from locations and rural areas not to give up on their dreams and the things they love.

“It does not matter where you coming from if you have a passion.

“You need to work hard, pray and commit yourself and everything will fall into place.

“I am so happy for my city and my location Imbali.”

He also promised that their show will be “lit” as they will be playing different kinds of music.
