THE first ever Miss Amagugu KZN pageant will be hosted by Mfundo Sibisi (MS) Modelling Agency in Pietermaritzburg this month.

The pageant takes place at the Imperial Hotel in Jabu Ndlovu Street on October 26 from 3 pm and aims to develop, equip and prepare models for the modelling industry.

Pageant founder Mfundo Sibisi said the competition will feature three categories for models: juniors, teenagers and seniors.

“We held auditions in August and we are currently conducting workshops with the aim of providing the models with further training and unpacking the modelling industry.

“We have about 54 finalists from all over KwaZulu-Natal that will be competing for this title. This pageant not only grooms models, but also seeks in trying to create a connection between parents and daughters,” Sibisi said.

According to Sibisi, the reason they called this pageant Miss Amagugu KZN is because heritage is an important nation-building tool and an exciting way of reaching out to young South Africans, saying: “We want to encourage national pride and modelling/beauty, art and music is the easiest way to unite different cultures into one. Miss Amagugu KZN is a mixture of beauty and education.”

“We seek to groom and expose all models who are driven by passion.” Tickets for the event are R100 per person and the event’s dress code is “African Touch”.
