THE opening of a new temple on the corner of Olympia and Bombay roads attracted many from the community.

Celebrations began on Saturday and ended on Sunday.

Deities were honoured and mantras were chanted over the weekend.

Head of Iskon - Hare Krishna Movement in
Pietermaritzburg and festival organiser, Nityanenda Pran Das, said they were pleased with the turn-out and success of the festival.

“Attendance was excellent. We did not expect so many people to come. We are hopeful that people will continue to come as this temple belongs to everyone,” he said.

He asked the community to attend religious services in the mornings and evenings from 4.30am to 6.30am and from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, respectively.
