EXCITEMENT was in the air at Eden Gardens Private Hospital (EGPH) on Wednesday, February 20 as the recently opened hospital had its very first baby delivery.

The hospital, which opened in mid-October 2018, has been waiting in anticipation for this momentous day.

Baby Shandu was born at the hospital on February 20 and weighed in at 2.96kg.

His parents, Mr and Mrs Shandu, were all smiles as they welcomed their second baby.

Specialist obstetricians and gynaecologists Doctors Sibanda and Mlonzi, who assisted during the delivery, said they were proud to be involved in EGPH’s first delivery.

“It’s a blessing to be involved in the hospital’s first delivery; we wish the parents and the baby a happy, healthy life”, said Dr Sibanda.

Both mom and dad said they were excited to be a part of the hospital’s history. In addition, mom said she was happy that her baby boy was the first baby to be born at the beautiful hospital.

Baby Shandu’s older brother could also not contain his joy upon seeing his baby brother.

“The maternity ward staff have treated us like royalty throughout our stay, we cannot thank them enough,” said Mrs Shandu.

Hospital manager Kobus Nel congratulated the mom and dad of baby Shandu, and together with all the maternity staff wished them happiness and joy for years to come.
