THE league game for Maritzburg United against University of Pretoria will be a do or die for the home team. The Team of Choice will be forced to play for their lives and earn maximum points. A win against the visiting Tuks will also mean moving away from the relegation zone or last position for the first time in the season.

Last weekend the Pmb outfit bowed out of the ongoing Nedbank Cup after going down 2-0 to Mpumalanga Black Aces away.

Team of Choice communications manager Brian Zuma says their match against the Pretoria visitors will be a six pointer and he can’t imagine themselves faltering.

“It is unfortunate that we lost 2-0 to Aces during the Nedbank Cup because we really wanted to advance to the next round. Our priority is the PSL status and on Saturday will be the D-Day for us.

“In fact this clash will be treated like a final by both teams. Our aim or our thoughts are simple and straight froward, we want to win this game at all cost and earn maximum points in order to move away from the bottom of log table for the very first time,”said Zuma.

Last weekend against Aces, the Team of Choice fielded the majority of fringe players but were able to launch a handful of attacks. Against Tuks the home side is likely to field the strongest and the best side available.

United’s influential players such as Kurt Lentjies, Evans Rusike, Philani Zulu, Deolin Mekoa and Kwanda Mngonyama will be expected to play a leading role and deliver goods.

Tuks head coach Shaun Bartlett’s main mission is to survive relegation and the campaign will start against United at Harry Gwala Stadium.

“Both teams are involved in the bitter relegation battle and our clash will be very tense. We also want to win it at all cost,” said Bartlett.

Tuks players that are expected to give the Team of Choice a good run for their money are Lennox Bacela, Thabo Mnyamane and Atusaye Nyondo.
