MERCHISTON Preparatory School’s pupil Farhan Pillay won first place in the junior division for most points won during the annual KwaZulu-Natal Golf Order of Merit awards held at Kloof Country Club recently.

For the year 2019, Farhan also won second place for the best stroke average among a group of boys aged between 11 and 12 years old.

Shaun Pillay, Farhan’s father said the junior golfer has been participating in the SA Kids Golf Tour for the past five years.

“He just completed Grade 6 at Merchiston Preparatory School. During the course of last year, he won five tournaments, had two second place finishes and third place finishes,” said Pillay, adding that Farhan has also represented the KZN under 11 team in the inter-provincial tournament for the past two years.

“As his parents, we are proud of his achievements. We will support him all the way even if he considers pursuing golf as a professional career,” said Pillay.
