THREE pupils will be representing Pietermaritzburg and South Africa this month in Europe after being selected to participate in the Easter Open International Soccer tournament, set to take place in the Netherlands and France from April 18 to April 29.

Two pupils from Wartburg Kirchdorf School, Anele Mkhize and Kwazi Dlamini, as well Malachi Momple from Scottsville Primary School were selected to participate in the tournament. Mkhize and Dlamini, both aged 17, will represent the U19 girls and boy Pietermaritzburg High School soccer teams respectively while Momple will be part of the U12 side.

The pupils have stated their excitement at the trip ahead, saying that they are most keen to visit the soccer-rich countries and immerse themselves in the soccer culture of the regions.

Both schools wished their pupils good fortune for their upcoming games overseas with Wartburg stating that both Mkhize and Dlamini are excellent athletes and have represented their first teams outstandingly well.

“We are very proud of Momple and would like to wish him all the best,” said Scottsville Primary School.
