KWAPATA actor Sbusiso Hlophe is working hard to produce a drama series for television called Ilawu. The series will be aimed at raising awareness about child abuse, crime and unemployment.Speaking to Echo, Hlophe said it has always been his dream to write and shoot films in his own city. The Ukube Ngangazi actor, who started acting when he was in Grade 11 at Alexandra High School, said it is not the first work that he will produce. “In 2014, I acted in Ukukhala Akusizi and in 2015 I was in a comedy series. I then went to Johannesburg to learn more about film-making and would now like to share all the knowledge I gained with the people of choice,” he said.He said the drama will be shot in different sections of Imbali.“I have the scripts ready and I have recruited some of the actors. However, I will be taking on more actors from around Pietermaritzburg so that they will have an opportunity to showcase their acting skills. “I want to start shooting as soon as possible but I am still looking for sponsorship because this is going to be a big project.”Hlophe said this is certainly not the last of his acting plans and wants to shoot a music video based on the film.
