WITH each player being asked to raise roughly R3 000 due to of the lack of sponsorship, the KZN Midlands Open Action Hockey Team is still in need of approximately R5 000 in order to be able to compete in the IPT tournament held in Benoni this year.

The KZN team has been placed in the top four of the tournament since its inception back in 2015 and placed their highest finish in 2015 when they came second, losing by one point to the Eastern Province.

Last year the team played in the ladies open division in Pretoria where they finished in fourth position after losing to the Western Province by one point.

Speaking to a player of the team, Ashleigh Abrahams said that because the team does not have sponsorships in place the funding for everything becomes a financial burden for the team when trying to cover unforeseen costs. “We would greatly appreciate it if the public could assist us with donations towards our kit, transport, accommodation and food,” pleaded Abrahams. The tournament will commence on August 8 and conclude on August 11.

Those looking to make any contribution to the team can contact Ashleigh on 072 711 1229 or Gail on 079 981 2528.
