WITH the KZN Midlands Pool League halfway through the first round of matches, it was the long awaited showdown last Thursday between the Tequila Tanglers (defending champions) and Raisemed Swerve.

Both teams went into the match unbeaten and in scintillating form.

It was the Tanglers who started off the better of the two with captain Shameel Singh breaking and finishing in style.

Not long after, it was 7-1 to the Tanglers. At this point it looked like a training session for the Tanglers until Raisemed Swerve captain Yulan “Hawkeye” Govender showed just why he is one of South Africa’s best in the business, bringing home the frame and cheering his players on to perform the unthinkable.

Raisemed Swerve pulled their socks up and just before the last session, the score was 10-10, with five games remaining.

Raisemed Swerve then went 12-10 up, and needing just one more win to secure the game, up stepped Junaid Ebrahim.

With heaps of pressure and a standstill crowd, he potted the black and shook his opponents hand.

Raisemed Swerve is the only unbeaten team in the KZN Midlands league.

League games are played every Thursday from 8pm at Swerve Pool Club and Action Bar in Raisethorpe. The public is encouraged to come watch. - Supplied.
