HOT off the heels of his last starring role in the play Hook or by crook, Lyle Chellan has landed a leading role in the play Who’s the boss? and wants to use his acting platform as a means to inspire more Pietermaritzburg artists and entertainers to pursue their dreams.

The play, which will be held in Sibiya Casino from November 2-4, sees three childhood friends battle with their wives for their freedom after feeling trapped in their marriages.

“This will be my second theatre play this year and I want to show people that following their dreams is possible.

“I have also just landed a role in an upcoming film. I want to inspire the people of Pietermaritzburg to be brave and expose their talents. I hope that when people see me doing what I love it will inspire others to follow suit,” said Chellan.

Hard at work applying his trade, the actor said that rehearsals began four weeks ago and that travelling to Durban for the rehearsals has been a challenge but one he is happy to take in the pursuit of his dreams.

“It is challenging finding a balance but I deal with it fairly well and being on the road as often as I am I use music as a way to clear my mind and put things into perspective,” said Chellan.

Speaking on the vast talent in Pietermaritzburg, Chellan says that it is time for people to stop being scared of failure or rejection.

“Explore your talent. You never know where you could be if you are willing to be brave and take a risk,” said Chellan.

Who’s the boss? is written and directed by the Melanie Kisten Dance Academy and will embark on a national tour beginning in Durban and will make its way to Pietermaritzburg next year.

“Everything in the play is current humour and those in attendance can expect a laughter-filled evening,” promised Chellan.
